About this grant

The Young Entrepreneurs Contest from the madri+d Foundation is a technology-business idea competition for school pupils in Madrid. A team of 2–4 Bachillerato or CFGS pupils devises a business linked to science or technology; the work must be original (you must state whether AI was used). A teacher at the school submits the application and the package includes the canvas and business plan. The deadline is 8 February 2027.

A committee picks the three best projects in each of the two categories; finalists defend the idea before a jury at the Madrid es Ciencia Fair (13 March). Prizes in each category: 1st place, a €1,000 bonus for scientific and computer materials and a visit to Madrid's entrepreneurship centre; 2nd, €500; 3rd, €250; the school with the most participants gets a visit to an entrepreneurship or research centre.

Steps

  1. 1

Form a team of 2–4 Bachillerato or higher-vocational pupils in the Community of Madrid and find a school teacher to guide you and submit the entry.

  2. 2

Come up with a technology-based business idea: it must solve a problem you noticed and relate to science or technology.

  3. 3

Fill in the CANVAS and BUSINESS PLAN documents; they judge the idea (50 %), revenue and costs (15 %), market and competition (10 %), reaching the customer (10 %), steps and SWOT (10 %) and team diversity (5 %).

  4. 4

State whether you used AI tools: the work must be your own.

  5. 5

The teacher attaches the documents to the form by 8 February 2027.

  6. 6

If you are among the top three, finalists are announced on 22 February; on 13 March you defend the idea at the Feria Madrid es Ciencia 2027: a presentation of up to 3 minutes and 2 of questions.

What exactly to submit

Documents and materials to attach to the application.

  • The CANVAS document
  • A business plan
  • The entry form the teacher fills in
  • A note on any AI use

Example

Example (written by us): Ana and three classmates invent a service that finds grants by a pupil's profile. With the economics teacher they fill in the canvas and plan, prepare a 3-minute pitch in December and the teacher submits the documents by 8 February; if the team is a finalist, it defends the idea on 13 March.

An example we wrote to illustrate: it is not an official sample, replace the details with your own.

How applicants are chosen

A committee picks the 3 best projects in each category; finalists defend the idea before a jury at the Feria Madrid es Ciencia; decisions are final. Projects without the full documents are not assessed.

What happens after you apply

Prizes in each category: 1st a €1,000 voucher for scientific or IT materials and a visit to a Madrid entrepreneurship centre; 2nd €500; 3rd €250; the school with the most participants gets a visit to an entrepreneurship or research centre.

Common mistakes

  • Submitting without a teacher: a school teacher submits the entry
  • Not attaching the CANVAS and business plan: the project is not assessed
  • Not declaring AI use or presenting someone else's idea
  • Choosing an idea with no link to science or technology
