About this grant

UWC España selects candidates for the United World Colleges: 10 places with full or partial coverage of two years of the International Baccalaureate (IB) at schools around the world. You study among students from many countries.

Pupils in 4th year of ESO and 1st year of Bachillerato with Spanish nationality or residence in Spain for the last 8 years can apply; the previous year must be passed. Selection has several stages: an application and essay, interviews and an English test. The 31 October 2026 date in the record is a guide from the 2025 cycle (15 September – 31 October 2025); it no longer suits those finishing Bachillerato.

Example (written by us): Ana, in 1st Bachillerato, opens the UWC España call in September, writes the essay, applies before 31 October, takes the interviews and English test and learns whether she has one of the 10 places for two years of IB abroad.

An example we wrote to illustrate: it is not an official sample, replace the details with your own.

How applicants are chosen

A multi-stage selection: application and essay, interviews and an English test; only 10 places with full or partial funding.

What happens after you apply

10 places with full or partial funding of the two years of the International Baccalaureate (IB) at UWC schools. 31 October 2026 is a guide from the 2025 cycle (15.09–31.10.2025).

Common mistakes

  • Applying outside 4th ESO or 1st Bachillerato: those are the required years
  • Leaving it to late October: the essay and interviews take time
  • Treating the 2026 deadline as final: it is a guide from the 2025 cycle

Tips

  • We haven't re-checked the conditions by hand yet: compare amounts and deadlines with the official page before applying.

Guide checked against the official pages: 9 October 2026. Guide written from official sources. Details may change: check them on the application page.
