About this grant

The National Prize for Introduction to Technological Research (UAITIE) is the 12th national contest of technical projects for pupils in 3rd–4th year of ESO, Bachillerato and vocational training: a team of three to five pupils led by a teacher or school representative (the only intermediary with the association and UAITIE). First the jury of UAITIE associations in your autonomous community chooses a winner in each category (A, ESO; B, Bachillerato; C, CFGM; D, CFGS), then the national stage follows.

At the national stage the four best projects receive a cash prize of €1,000 per project (shared among the team's pupils), a diploma for each participant, coordinator and school, and the school gets a further €250. The submission window runs from 1 September 2026 to 31 March 2027.

Time needed
The project takes several weeks; submissions run from 1 September 2026 to 31 March 2027

Steps

  1. 1

Form a team of three to five classmates and talk to your Technology or Industrial Technology teacher: they will be the coordinator and the single contact with the association and UAITIE. Teachers and pupils from different schools may also take part with a single coordinator.

  2. 2

Check the level: you are in 3rd–4th-year ESO, 1st–2nd-year Bachillerato or vocational training (CFGM, CFGS) at a school in Spain. Bachillerato projects go in category B.

  3. 3

Propose a technical solution to one of society's relevant challenges, linked to industrial-branch engineering (electricity and electronics, energy and water, mechanical manufacturing, chemistry, transport, etc.). A school may enter several teams, but with different projects.

  4. 4

Before you start working, register all group members and the project title on the prize site.

  5. 5

Prepare the project and a short presentation video describing the idea and results.

  6. 6

Before 31 March 2027 (the window opened on 1 September 2026) submit everything through the site; corrections can be made during the submission window.

  7. 7

Then projects are judged at your autonomous community level (a jury from UAITIE's associations) and each category's winners go on to the national phase. Prizes are presented in the second half of June 2027.

What exactly to submit

Documents and materials to attach to the application.

  • Registration of all group members and the project title on the prize site
  • The project (a technical solution with its description) and a short presentation video
  • Details of the teacher-coordinator and the school

Example

Example (written by us): four 1st-year Bachillerato pupils from Logroño with their Technology teacher devise a soil-moisture sensor for the school garden. In October they register, in February they film the video and before 31 March submit the project in category B.

An example we wrote to illustrate: it is not an official sample, replace the details with your own.

How applicants are chosen

First a jury of UAITIE associations in your autonomous community picks a winner per category (A ESO, B Bachillerato, C CFGM, D CFGS); then the best projects are chosen in the national phase.

What happens after you apply

In the national phase each category's winner receives a diploma for every member, the coordinator and the school, a €1,000 cash prize per project (shared among the pupils) and €250 for the school in STEM materials. UAITIE awards them with Caja de Ingenieros's sponsorship; presentation in the second half of June 2027.

Common mistakes

  • Forming a team of fewer than three or more than five pupils
  • Submitting a project without a teacher-coordinator
  • Starting work without registering the group and project title
  • Missing 31 March 2027: after it submissions close for good
